Link up your social media accounts, and enable social sharing on your store.

Overview

Give your store a voice via the incredible power of social media.

Social media is an essential tool for your business and provides a near-instant opportunity to connect with your customers (and visa-versa). Market products, promote your brand and foster new business. Answer questions, obtain feedback about customers’ experiences, either directly, or indirectly.

Speed and convenience are two huge benefits of social media versus conventional email and print.

An active presence on social media establishes trust and an “always available” stance when it comes to customer support. These days, quality customer support in particular is more crucial than ever and should be placed squarely alongside the product itself in terms of importance.

Praise and negative feedback left by customers on public social media should always be responded to swiftly and professionally. This serves to increase transparency and impact interactions in the most positive way.


Getting started

Your theme is capable of integrating the following hugely popular Social media channels:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Flickr
  • Pinterest
  • Google Plus
  • Snapchat
  • Houzz
  • Tumblr
  • LinkedIn

To link your social media accounts to your store, head to:

  1. Admin
  2. Online Store > Themes > Customise
  3. Theme settings > Social media
  1. You will then see the list of social media link entry fields:

Here you can add in the social networks of your choice. Once entered, these will appear in the “Top bar” of your store’s header and / or the footer / social media section, depending on your settings.

Tip

If a link is not added to the link box, the respective social media icon will not display. Only when a link is added will the icon display on the storefront. Social media links should follow the format shown in the examples provided below each link entry field:


Adding social media icons to the header

Note

Make sure you have added your social media links first: How to get started.

Use the following method:

  1. Admin
  2. Online Store > Themes > Customise
  3. Sections
  4. Header
  5. Under “Top bar” toggle the “Show social media icons” tickbox

Your Social media icons should now display here:


Adding social media icons to the footer

Note

Use the following method:

  1. Admin
  2. Online Store > Themes > Customise
  3. Sections
  4. Footer
  5. Under “Content” add a content block called “Social icons”

Your Social media icons should now display here:


Adding social media icons to a home page section

Note

Make sure you have added your social media links first: How to get started.

To show your social media icons as a section on your home page, use the following method:

  1. Admin
  2. Online Store > Themes > Customise
  3. Sections
  4. Select (or add) the “Social media icons” section:

You should then see something similar to this on your home page:

How do I enable Social Sharing?

There are options available in your theme’s settings that can help increase interactions with your social profiles.

  1. Admin
  2. Online Store > Themes > Customise
  3. Theme settings > Social media
  1. Scroll to the very bottom of this setting panel and you will see the following:
  • Enable product sharing toggles whether the 'Like', 'Tweet' and '+1' icons (mentioned below) are visible on all of your product pages.
  • Enable blog post sharing does the same on all individual blog article / post pages.
  • Share on Facebook shows a 'Like' icon.
  • Tweet on Twitter shows a 'Tweet' icon.
  • +1 on Google Plus shows a '+1' icon.
