A template dictates how your product pages, collection pages and blog pages look and operate when a customer visits your site.
Each layout is different according to the specific area of your site and the functionality it requires.
For example, your product page will have the options to display “related products” and “reviews”, whereas your password page, does not need these abilities and instead has more relevant options, such as choosing a “background image” and “show newsletter signup”.
A whole host of options are available for you as part of your theme's default functionality and it’s important that you know how to find these quickly and easily to make changes when needed.

How do I find my templates and their settings?
There are a two methods available for finding your templates’ settings.
Both methods involve heading here firstly:
- Online store > Themes > Customise
After this you have your two options; you either find the template “manually” by navigating to it on the right-hand-side preview area and the settings panel to the left will display options according to the page shown.
Or, secondly, you can select the area of your site from the dropdown at the top of the editor:
This will again adjust the left-hand-side settings panel to reflect the part of your storefront you are viewing.
Neither route is right or wrong, just whichever is personal preference for you. Whichever method you choose, you will see a bunch of options on the left and it’s here that you can adjust things to suit your needs.
You will need to click through to a secondary layer of options, depending on whether the area you are viewing has a header and footer present, like this:
Once you change a setting on the left hand side, your preview on the right will refresh after a second or two, to show the storefront with the change applied, but not saved. To save your changes, click the “save” button at the top of your preview window:
